Description
Wilson Sucaticona was born in Conima, near the Peru–Bolivia border. His father and grandfather grew coffee on the Bolivian side, back when the border was still open and informal. When restrictions tightened in the 1950s, the family migrated on foot—trekking for two weeks through the mountains until they reached San Pedro de Putina Punco, where they eventually settled. Wilson’s father started producing coffee there, and Wilson continues the work today. In addition to the land he inherited, he’s expanded his farm to increase production. His farm, Alto Lagunillas, is named for a small lake at the top of the property. Wilson grows several varietals on his land, including Bourbon—a delightful variety with an interesting history. Originally discovered on the island of Réunion (formerly Bourbon Island) in the 1700s, Bourbon has since spread across Latin America. Known for its sweetness complex flavor profile, it’s become a cornerstone of specialty coffee. In this cup you'll find Jasmine, a cotton candy sweetness and a simple syrupy mouthfeel.
