Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More
“There’s nobody I admire in music more than Kim...She is the most relentless in pursuit of a very specific sound or idea of anyone I’ve ever worked with”
Not much more that one can add to this quote from the late great Steve Albini. The first solo album from the force, the genius, the inimitable voice behind the Breeders, the Amps and some of your favorite Pixies tunes is simply perfect if you ask me. Truly splendid! I myself have been a huge Kim Deal fan since 7th grade when the Kurt Cobain wave propelled "Cannonball" to “Buzz Clip” status on afterschool MTV afternoons - a mere 32 years ago or so. While I’ve always loved the plethora of noisy hooks in Kim’s music, it is her voice, filled with a breathy, joyful, harmless mischievousness that is so entrancing. I recently read an article where someone called her voice their favorite instrument in the world! We’re psyched to be sharing this one with you. After sleeping on the Last Splash reissue a few years back, we had to jump at this.
Daniel Moreno - Santa Barbara, Honduras
Don Daniel Moreno is the patriarch of the vast Moreno clan that rules the coffee scene in the town El Cedral in the Santa Barbara region of Honduras. Daniel purchased his first plantation, La Sierra, there in 1963 which is still producing to this day. Daniel passed away in April of 2018 but his farms are still managed by his seven sons. We had the good fortune to spend a day with most of the Morenos in April of 2024. And let me tell, aside from being top notch coffee producers, they are also excellent hosts! This coffee comes from El Campo, another one of Daniel's farms near El Cedral. We bought 2 separate lots from El Campo this year. In this second release you will find plenty of sweet honey, cocoa with some cool citrus on top.
